832's Miss California Saves Suicidal Man!
On November 4, 2016 Yonkers Police Department K9 Unit was called to assist patrol officers with a possible suicidal man who fled from his residence. This male had threatened to hurt himself prior to leaving his residence.

Several Police Officers attempted to locate the male but were unable to find him, prompting officers to call out Yonkers Police Departments first Bloodhound Unit 832’s Miss California aka “Cali “and Handler Robert Ascolillo.

When the Bloodhound unit arrived on scene, Officer Ascolillo obtained a scent article. Cali was prepared for her first track since she was placed in Yonkers, NY. K9 Cali was presented with the scent article and instantly started tracking the male subject. The track lead officials from Central Park Ave south to a park near the Yonkers – Bronx city line.

K9 Cali tracked to a heavily wooded area and brought officers directly to the male who was hiding near a tree. The male was eventually taken to a nearby hospital and remains under treatment. This was Cali’s first callout and successfully saved this man’s life. The organization would like to congratulate Handler Ascolillo and Cali for their dedication and hard work.

K9 Cali was recently placed with Yonkers PD in September 2016. She was sponsored by Pomona Eagles F.O.E 2215 from California and trained by Veteran Volunteer & Handler Cesar Rivera. The continued commitment from the Pomona Eagles and Handler Rivera has played an important role in saving this man’s life.
